The application portal will open January 12, 2026

The British Columbia School Superintendents Association will award seven regional scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary studies. Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2026.

One recipient will be chosen from each of the seven BCSSA provincial chapters (Fraser Valley, Kootenay-Boundary, Metro, Vancouver Island, Northern, and Thompson-Okanagan). In addition, the Indigenous Chapter reviews Indigenous applicants from each chapter and awards one scholarship.

Each recipient will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

The scholarship committees will look for applicants who have shown outstanding leadership that positively impacts their school and community. Applicants must provide letters of reference that confirm their achievements and their efforts to improve quality of life, as well as promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each applicant must also submit a brief description (maximum 450 words) explaining how their leadership has made a difference for others. Leadership can be demonstrated in areas such as arts, trades, academics, sports, social justice, equity, well-being, diversity, advocacy, or cultural responsiveness
